Google is doing Hardware? No Way!
According to the Wall Street Journal, Google is creating an Android-powered entertainment system and will undertake its design and sell it under its own umbrella. This is going to resemble something like the big hit that was the Wi-Fi enabled music system created by Sonos, which is a Californian company hailing from Santa Barbara. When I heard of this news, I was astounded and could only think of how Unbelievable this is!
It would be awesome simply because I have been researching Google's let-me-in affliction and as MG Siegler points out, the Cali based Internet behemoth will make hardware.
Unbelievable also because Google will make a true effort to realize their ambition to crack the consumer electronics marketplace. It is also Unbelievable to think that this company will build a supply chain for the very first time and have to deal with retailers and in the end, get people to buy it. This is the first time it has ever had to make a push because its web services are pretty much key to internet usage nowadays but hardware is a whole other playing field (Or it can sell directly over the web, much like it did with its Nexus phones — pun definitely intended.)
Unbelievable because, considering the company’s track record on products beyond its core focuses which are search, advertising and communication-oriented software- is blemished at best.
Unbelievable, to see one of smartest companies show such lack of discipline and self awareness. Unbelievable!
Awesome, to see one of the smartest companies in the world to show such lack of rule, code, discipline and self-awareness. Simply Unbelievable!
